There has been an absence of clear guidance on how to investigate, assess and mitigate risks concerning Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) at sites affected by contamination. The very nature of our industrial past has left a major legacy of VOCs in the ground, all of which have the potential to migrate and pose significant risks to human health that, in most cases, are difficult to assess and resolve.
This workshop expands on the guidance provided within CIRIA C682 - The VOCs Handbook - which provides good practice on the investigation, assessment and management of risks associated with VOCs. Through understanding the theory behind how different VOCs behave in the environment, to practical advice on how to investigate for VOCs at sites affected by contamination, the workshop will improve the understanding as to how these compounds can be best considered.
