About the managing construction risk community of practice

The insurance and construction sectors have a vital role in managing risk, this Community of Practice (CoP) draws together practitioners from the construction and insurance sectors to form a network focused on generating collaboration, sharing good practice, enhancing knowledge transfer, and improving the management of risk from construction activity related to people, property, environment and profitability and financial performance.

Key Outputs: A series of quarterly network events and collation of resources within one point of reference.

  • Community events will support knowledge sharing and good practice and will be free to CoP members. Potential events (run as webinars and/or face-to-face) include launch meeting - Introduction to key challenges (premiums, claims, breaches, claim records, sub-contractor policies) and highlighting priorities for raising awareness and collaboration, policies impacted by COVID-19, Professional Indemnity, design risk, general liabilities, contract works (e.g. water detection, water damage) and flood risk policies.
  • CIRIA will collate materials from multiple trade bodies and practitioners across a variety of risk management areas and make this information accessible on a CIRIA portal, leading to increased collaboration and understanding amongst practitioners which will also result in performance improvement through greater understanding of risks and their management.
