A guide to cost standards for dredging equipment 2009 (C684)
There is a minimum order of five copies for this title
Dredging is a capital-intensive industry, often involving only a few high-cost items of marine construction equipment on each project. It is an activity that frequently takes place in an inhospitable environment with high construction risks and limited comprehensive site data, which can lead to works variations, re-measurement and disputes.
This guide is an update to CIRIA C655 published in 2005, and describes the characteristics of the various common types of dredging equipment. It examines the philosophy behind the internationally-accepted costing conventions that are prevalent in the industry today.
Cost figures are given in tabular format for a range of dredger sizes, and the methods for assessing costs for non-standard dredgers are explained. The publication offers a standard method to establish the capital and related costs of various types of dredging plant and equipment commonly in use. It is for use by all stakeholders in dredging projects, which include consultants, existing and potential clients, project financiers, insurers and dredging contractors.
