How to manage NAPL on contaminated sites

This webinar covers the background theory of non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPL) movement in the subsurface and how the NAPL interacts with soil, air and groundwater. A case study will be used to demonstrate controlling factors which affect NAPL movement in the context of the upcoming SoBRA guidance and the sustainable remediation framework of SuRF-UK

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Background
Non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) including oil and petrochemical products are often present in soil and groundwater. Understanding and establishing NAPL movement is essential to remediate sites with NAPL efficiently. However, gathering data from site is a complex process and can result in site investigations that are data deficient or appear contradictory. The ITRC and CL:AIRE have published guidance on NAPL conceptual site models, however it does not go into detail on the practicalities of gathering and interpreting data. The upcoming SoBRA guidance aims to address these points. David Holmes will discuss NAPL movement and behaviour in the context of the SoBRA guidance.

Why attend
Learn how to interpret data from NAPL-affected sites
Evaluate different data collection methods
Understand the controlling factors that govern NAPL movement
Discover how these concepts can be applied onsite in the context of sustainable remediation
