POSTPONED - Verification of ground gas protection

This event will give an overview of how to verify membrane and other ground gas protection systems for contaminated sites. It is particularly useful for local authorities or other organisations who supervise such work

This event has been postponed in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the UK. The wellbeing of delegates, speakers and staff is our priority.

Instead, we have scheduled a lunchtime webinar on this topic on Monday 18 May 2020 – click here to register.

In addition, we will reschedule the original event once the situation has improved – please contact Hanifa Qamar to register your interest.

Background

Hazardous ground gases can cause serious problems to residential, industrial and commercial developments.   Verification of ground gas protection systems is important part of managing these gases.

Although CIRIA report C735 Good practice on the testing and verification of protection systems for buildings against hazardous ground gases was published almost 5 years ago, there are still cases such systems were not installed or managed properly. There is now an L4 NVQ Diploma in Verification of Ground Gas Protection System.

However many professionals such as local authorities who supervise the verification  process and/or the integrity tests are not sure what to expect and how this could be done effectively and not affected by other site activities

Why attend

This event will

  • What to expect from a verification plan
  • Give an overview of the verification approaches for different types of ground gases
  • How to ensure that your verification experts/advisors will do what they say
  • Discuss issues how verification can done effectively with other site activities/follow on trade
  • Share good practice and experience
