This free webinar will discuss the use of a Learning Action Alliance to provide a framework for collaboration and the delivery of better water management outcomes.

Background
Problems like flooding or more broadly climate change, are very difficult to solve as they are ‘wicked problems’, being complex to understand with multiple and conflicting solutions that in some cases can create problems for others. They require more integrated approaches, which can only be achieved if the stakeholders collaborate.
A Learning and Action Alliance (LAA) helps deal with ‘wicked problems’. This is an open forum that brings local stakeholders to the table to facilitate learning and innovation. LAAs are usually a voluntary and open arrangement that enable collaborative working between a group of individuals or organisations with a shared interest in delivering change. The aim is for stakeholders to bring their knowledge and expertise and talk freely outside the constraints of existing formal institutional settings.
Why attend?
While the concept of LAAs has increased in popularity, there is still limited knowledge of their value and contribution in delivering better outcomes. This free webinar will present the lessons learnt in implementing the LAA and includes presentations from those at the ‘coal face’ of implementing an LAA and better water management in Ebbsfleet, Kent. The speakers have been involved in the implementation of the LAA for the last three years. The objectives of the webinar are to:
- Provide an overview of the principles of establishing an LAA
- Present what was accomplished as part of the Ebbsfleet LAA
- Provide the perspective of two different stakeholders that were involved in the LAA
- Reflect on the opportunities and challenges of implementing LAAs
