Background
It’s been nearly two years since the Ministerial statement on the requirement for SuDS in major developments. As time progresses it is becoming clear that there is huge variation in approaches and successfulness to securing SuDS. However, experience has shown that good SuDS schemes can only be effectively secured if there is leadership from the LLFA, that they provide information and guidance to developers and their consultants and that they work together to get the best outcomes for the site.

This susdrain event will discuss three different approaches used by the LLFAs to work with developers and their consultants to secure SuDS. The presentations will cover the information and guidance they provide, explain what their policies and expectations are and discuss how these are met. There will also be an opportunity to explore how a consultant representing the developer works with this information to deliver SuDS schemes that are acceptable to the LLFA.

Why attend?

The speakers have a wealth of experience and have been involved in planning, managing flood risk and delivering SuDS for a number of years. The objectives of this seminar are to:
  • Discuss how SuDS delivery can interact with local plan policy
  • Outline how LLFAs are developing effective relationships with developers
  • Provide an overview of how some LLFAs are overcoming challenges related to SuDS adoption
  • Understand the challenges and opportunities of SuDS delivery
