Background
We realise that SuDS means different things to different people. That said, the opportunity to deliver multiple benefits whilst delivering flood risk management is increasingly recognised.
This susdrain event will demonstrate approaches that encourage the delivery of multiple benefits from SuDS in both new and retrofit situations. Presenters will describe how they engage with stakeholders and communities about the potential of SuDS. They will share information on the performance of established SuDS in the west and south west of the country.
This seminar will specifically cover the drivers and approaches to successful SuDS delivery alongside future strategic aspirations for Welsh Government and two local authorities. It will provide an overview of the performance and monitored benefits of SuDS retrofitted a few years ago by Dwr Cymru, Welsh Water and their partners. The event will also discuss the fundamental role of local authorities in articulating the benefits of retrofitting SuDS as well as the challenges they’re still facing in delivering benefits beyond flood risk for new developments.
Objectives
This free event will illustrate the process of successful planning, delivery to obtain good performance of multi-beneficial SuDS schemes.
The speakers have a wealth of experience and have been involved in regulating and delivering SuDS for a number of years.
