Site investigation for brownfield sites - what's new? CANCEL

This event will update you with the latest development on site investigation for contaminated land.

Background
Site investigation techniques have evolved substantially over the years. The traditional approach of sampling and analysis is still applied to many projects, however new techniques and tools have been developed which can aid investigations; from desk top studies through to intrusive investigations and risk assessment. These include Apps that can be accessed during investigations allowing for real time data recording, in-situ probes & data loggers used to aid site conceptualisation; on-site screening tools and bio-accessibility testing for lead, arsenic and other contaminants.  Some of these techniques could also be used in acquiring more than one types of data/information about the site.

In order to make full use of these techniques, construction professionals need to be kept up to date with the latest developments, understand the benefits, limitations (both theory and practical) and cost effective application of these new approaches for different types of investigation projects.

This course will also include a group exercise which will help delegates to consolidate what they have learnt on the day in real projects.

Objective
The objective of the workshop is to provide the participants with an introduction to new and emerging investigation techniques and review of best practice in use of existing techniques.
