Innovative paths to low carbon infrastructure
Join industry leaders to discuss various approaches to low carbon infrastructure design and delivery, and to gain insight into how they can implement low carbon solutions in their own organisations.
Background
This event will bring together leading experts who have developed low carbon strategies, studied innovation within the sector and case studies of organisations who have successfully implemented step change to lower carbon emissions.
Based on agreement at the global and national government-levels, reducing carbon will require significant innovations to achieve our ambitions of keeping global average temperatures well below a 2 degrees Celsius rise. However, in 2015, a sector progress report on the Low Carbon Routemap for the Built Environment commissioned by the Green Construction Board showed that the industry overall had increased its carbon emissions rather than reducing it between 2009 - 2012.
The recently released PAS2080 Carbon management in infrastructure report and related Infrastructure Carbon Review commitments show progress in this area and provides some guidance for organisation to reduce their carbon emissions across embodied and operational carbon. However, there are still many barriers to achieving a low carbon industry and further action and support is needed throughout the supply chain.
Join industry leaders to explore the barriers and opportunities for low carbon infrastructure and discuss what will drive the innovation needed to change our trajectory.
