1 July 2015, 14:30 to 17:00 (registration from 14:00).

Overview
Since the introduction of the Flood Risk Regulations (2009) and the Flood and Water Management Act (2010) Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs) and other Risk Management Authorities (RMAs) have been getting to grips with new ways of working and as well as their additional duties and responsibilities. Many LLFAs are also still developing and delivering their Local Flood Risk Management Strategy’s (LFRMS). Central to delivering effective flood risk management with limited resources is the ability to work in partnership within and between local authorities, risk management authorities, stakeholders and the community.

This free seminar will provide an overview of good practice in some key areas of local flood risk management. Covering areas of partnership working (in Unitary and County Councils), flood investigations and asset management. These topics will also be related to progress with the Local Flood Risk Management Plans.

Who should attend?
This seminar will be of interest to those both experienced and new to local flood risk management, particularly those working in and with LLFAs. It will provide an overview of good practice in a variety of areas and provide an opportunity to share knowledge, experiences, concerns as well as solutions. Delegates will gain:
  • A better understanding of delivering successful partnerships to help manage local flood risk management.
  • An understanding of how recent flooding has influenced activities of LLFAs and the delivery of Local Flood Risk Management Plans
  • A useful insight into how some local authorities are tackling challenges of asset management and necessary maintenance.
