Capacity Building Workshops Autumn/Winter 2014

This event is currently FULLY BOOKED

You are invited to attend one of three workshops running during November and December.

Capacity Building Workshops Autumn / Winter 2014

Partnership funding for flood risk management

The workshops are free and part of an ongoing commitment to support those local authorities who are responsible for flood risk management. We are hosting the workshops at different locations and we hope you are able to attend one that is local and convenient to you. The workshops will cover the same content and provide an excellent opportunity for practitioners to come together and network in a shared, open learning forum.

When?
21 November 2014,
09:45 - 16:15. Registration open from 9:15.

Who should attend the workshops?
We are encouraging the registration of a representative from a Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and would like you to actively pass on the invite to relevant colleagues from District/Borough Councils, particularly those involved in regeneration and investment. There are around 170 spaces available. Colleagues from Environment Agency Area teams and water companies will be attending.

What you will learn from the workshops
These events are designed to share good practice and approaches to securing partnership funding for local flood risk schemes. The ‘how to do it’ session will inspire and equip participants to identify local economic benefits that arise from investment in local schemes. You will learn how to incorporate cost saving measures into schemes and how local partnership investment fits into the Environment Agency’s flood investment programme.

The workshops will be an opportunity for practitioners to share techniques and tools that can help identify different sources, build partnerships and stimulate local investment. Presentations to disseminate information will be complemented by interactive sessions on benefit mapping and a ‘partnership investment game’ to embed learning from the day.

Topics we will cover
  • Sharing partnership funding approaches – securing contributions
  • Meeting Defra’s efficiency targets in partnership funded schemes
  • Making an FCERM scheme viable
  • FCERM scheme benefit mapping
  • Stimulating local investment in FCERM schemes
