Background

No, we don’t have all the answers! However, as time goes on and the benefits of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) are recognised by more local authorities, clients and practitioners desiring and delivering SuDS, with many stakeholders gearing themselves up to appropriately allocate responsibilities for their long term maintenance.

Over recent months some local authorities have been preparing for the implementation of Schedule 3 of the Flood and Water Management Act and the National Standards for SuDS by publishing local SuDS guidance, starting internal dialogues and external partnerships to help manage the SuDS approval process (should it be introduced). Some local authorities are adopting SuDS components (and have been for years) and others are trialling a SuDS Approval Body (SAB) process, but using existing legislation.

This seminar will be of particular interest to those getting to grips with approaches to manage the SAB approval process and / or want to know what they can do now to make progress.

What is clear is that there are a variety of approaches and attitudes towards SuDS delivery and this seminar will provide an opportunity to share challenges and solutions!

Delegates will gain:
  • An understanding of mechanisms and processes to adopt SuDS within current regulatory frameworks
  • An opportunity to hear how some local authorities are beginning to prepare themselves for the implementation of Schedule 3
  • An opportunity to share concerns and approaches with peers about SuDS implementation, the SAB process and potential implementation of Schedule 3
