Overview
Large scale infrastructure projects bring together a large number of stakeholders and can require consultation with a wide range of stakeholders to build and manage relationships. This event will discuss various approaches to community engagement, stakeholder engagement plans and levels of involvement, building relationships, early engagement and other best practice approaches to stakeholder consultation.
For many projects community engagement is an integral part of successful project delivery.
Given the large increase in infrastructure and development projects currently underway it is vital that our industry understands the need for community engagement. Public awareness is increasing and community expectations need to be addressed in a comprehensive and timely manner.
This event will present a range of perspectives on community engagement and enable you to improve your understanding of this topical issue.

Martin’s introduction will give the historical and corporate perspective. He will discuss his experience of implementing community engagement strategies throughout his career from the early 1990’s up to the present day. This will give a background to the topic before other speakers present on more specific areas.

18.00 Overcoming challenges in community engagement - Jenny Stafford, Temple Group
Jenny will be discussing the theoretical good practice and challenges involved in undertaking community engagement.
18.15 London Overground: keeping the community on-board - Katie Anderton, London Overground and Emma Shannon, TfL
As an existing and live railway, London Overground has had to maintain service to customers whilst delivering a £320m capacity improvement programme. Community engagement is key to maintaining the reputation of TfL and delivering the programme.
