Local authority contaminated land network (LACL)

CIRIA's contaminated land network, LACL, helps local authority officers to address responsibilities and duties involving land contamination and redevelopment.

LACL was established in 2002 to help local authority officers address their responsibilities and duties  involving land contamination and to encourage good practice in the redevelopment of Brownfield sites.

LACL provides:

  • the opportunity to network with other local authorities, consultants, contractors, clients and regulators
  • up-to-date information about legislation and policy changes
  • help managing technical, legal and financial risk associated with brownfield sites.
Reasons for joining LACL

To gain inexpensive support via:

  • two free entries to each of the over 15 contaminated  face-to-face and e-seminars which will provide a total of over 240 hours of  CPD as recognised by ICE, CIOB, RICS, CIBSE, IStructE.
  • the first UK e-training course on contaminated land which provide a total of 35 CPD hours with £100 discount
  • a copy of the contaminated land & brownfield e-zine
  • a copy of a CIRIA good practice contaminated land publications
  • presentations of past events and recorded webinars.

To enable the development of ‘better regulation’ by:

  • exchanging and sharing experience and knowledge with over 130 local authorities in the UK. These authorities collectively employ over 11,000 full-time staff in the environmental control, building control and planning departments who are actively involved in land contamination projects
  • linking to over 800 clients, consultants, contractors, funders, legal professionals, regulators and other stakeholders actively involved at different stages of a brownfield projects in the UK and other countries
  • keeping up-to-date with the changing policy and regulatory changes and  guidance related to contaminated and brownfield sites in the UK and other countries
  • helping you, as an ‘enforcing authorities under the Part IIA regime’ to carry out your duties efficiently and ‘to targets’ and budgets.
