Project Manager - Environment & Sustainability

Salary: £28k-£42k depending on experience + benefits.

CIRIA operates across a wide range of sectors and disciplines relating to the infrastructure construction and built environment sectors. We specialise in knowledge transfer activities including publications, websites, webinars, events, training and awards. Our approach is collaborative, bringing together various stakeholders and disciplines. Our focus areas bridge science and evidence, policy and good practice. Our activities are acknowledged as being authoritative and independent, many being applied internationally.

We're well known in the infrastructure construction and built environment sectors for our outputs in environment and sustainability which include environmental good practice on site, sustainable procurement and biodiversity. We are recruiting a manager with UK-based experience gained in environmental management.

Your work will involve:
Developing project ideas and proposals for our environment and sustainability theme area.
Stakeholder engagement, helping us to understand and respond to the challenges faced by the industry, its clients and suppliers, and their needs for guidance and capacity building.
Scoping out identified topics and securing the funding and resources to deliver a programme of activities in this area. Most CIRIA projects are collaboratively funded by the industry.
Delivery of environment and sustainability projects, including engaging and management of Advisory Panels, Project Steering Groups, managing contracted specialists and peer reviews resulting in high quality, nationally regarded publications.
Promoting and managing dissemination and implementation of project outputs including events and training.

Candidates should have an appropriate degree, at least 3 years’ experience in the theme area,  awareness and connections in environment and sustainability, excellent communications and organisational skills, experience in (written) knowledge transfer activities,   the willingness to understand the symptoms, root causes and potential solutions to the sector’s challenges, and the determination to help deliver these solutions in the theme area.

We would be particularly interested to hear from you if you have significant experience of delivering or brokering collaborative industry – academic projects or other innovation-focused activities within the theme area.
